This book has a lot of action and betrayal with bonding and a great number of twist where the very betrayer is right in front of Queenie all along. And while you are reading in a part of danger it like you are trying to ask the runner to move or do something but the book follows on with its own words.

POP! was an action packed book with many different points of view from very different people. There was also an element of mystery and it made me wonder would could happen next. Overall I definitely recommend this amusing and adventurous book (I also loved the epilogue).

POP! is a great book, packed to the brim with mystery, provides some light humor and gives good messages regarding climate change. I loved how it show the stereotypical CEO who cares for nothing and no one but himself and money. My favorite character was easily Randy Van de Velde but my favorite scene was at the end in the court room(with the lawyer going mad🤣)!
Mitch Johnson has done a great job writing the book.

A wonderful book that truly did end with a bang. POP! is filled with encounters of betrayal, mystery and lots of action. It truly highlights everything there is about corruption and how it affects our planet. I would encourage everyone to read this book.

Dear author,
This book did what any good book should do. It made me laugh. It also had a deeper meaning.

When I first looked at this book, I have to admit, I was intrigued. The blurb left me wanting to find out more. The twists in the book were surprising but there was one twist that I saw coming from the third page. Pop was unlike every other book I have read before. It was not like Agatha Christie, Robin Stevens or Roald Dahl. It was different.

This book is a parody which means that it’s a big exaggeration for comic effect. It is unlikely that there will be a riot at the supermarket if there’s no coke left for anyone. (I said unlikely not impossible!)I loved the bits where things that happened were just outrageous. Like how Queenie’s brother just sits and watches TV all day.

My favourite character has to be Kennedy kid. He just wants to do what’s best and he tries to stop his horrible father from doing terrible things. I feel like he could have a whole story on him even though he isn’t the main character. His story is clearly deep and well thought out.

Although Pop isn’t my type of book, I feel like it was a great book to open up my experiences and it has helped me get more comfortable with reading b ooks other than murder mysteries!

Money…Power…Politics
A girl, like any other, but destined to battle her favourite company of soda after being caught in their devastating clutches… clutches that held the world on the verge of corruption… Dwight Eagleman had it all in his fingertips, able to upturn the world with a flick of his hand, everything in control… until it was not… A girl, like any other, was the only hope to pry the addicts from this all-powerful company… will she succeed and will the truths be revealed, read this book of adventure, politics and action…to find out what really happened…

Pop sums up a lot of different issues; global warming, company rivalry, misunderstandings, trust issues and much more. It’s due to this that it was very fitting for some people and not so for others. On the one hand there was always something that you could refer to but on the other hand you sometimes have to read it over and over as there is so much going on all the time.

I really like most of the characters because they are all so different and it’s hilarious to see how differently they take certain things and how they react to each other as well. Some of them are loud and outspoken while others are quite and keep their thoughts to themselves and this means that whoever you are, there will always be someone who you can resonate with. Some of the characters really seemed to be based of people that I know just with different names as they weren’t over the top like they had magic powers or something but it was just the right amount of surprising.

The story plot kept changing it’s path which always kept me guessing what would happen next (not that I was right at any point) this of course made sure that I couldn’t put the book down and the moment that I thought it was coming to a close another plot twist came along to catch me unguarded. One of my favourite parts of the book was how Queenie was told something right at the beginning of the book and as she went on her adventure all over the country, she found herself coming back to what she was told again and again. This really gave me, and Queenie as well, something that never changed and was always there. This is something that everyone needs in their life, a reliable something, whether or not they are carrying the worlds best kept secret or simply chilling at home on the couch and especially throughout COVID-19 people need this more that ever.

I would recommend this book to anyone who is good at having lots of information thrown at you, if you are someone who likes a simple plot with some nice easy information then I’m sorry but this book really isn’t for you. If you like funny books then this is just the book for you. If you are interested in environmental issues then this is for you too, as well as if you like law, read on. I would give this book a 9 1/2 out of 10 as sometimes I felt like there could have been more description on what was going on.

Pop! is an amazing book. I think this because the book is so suspensful that you cannot put it down. It has very vivid description like “The nearby bushes and thorny knots of grass were just black shapes against the grey ground”. Description like this really immerses the reader in the story. I also love the fact that all the characters are related in some way to what real people are today, like selfish businessmen, kids watching TV all day.I love how it also addressed world issues like climate change and pollution in the ocean.I think my favourite character is Queenie de la Cruz as she seems very independent and strong. From the beginning,I felt as though she always tried to come up with a strategy or was always thinking of one when she needed to. Do you think in the future the world will become the oyster of all massive production companies? Well if you do, then read Pop!.I think it is appropriate for people of ages 9-12 as these are ages that particularly can appreciate the hardships Queenie had to face. In conclusion, I believe that if you love adventure books that end with a bang, this is the book for you.

This book had the three things that tells me that this is a good book. It made me laugh, it made me think, and it made me look at things from a different perspective. There were lots of twists which surprised each time! I think my favourite character would be Queenie as she seems very independent and strong. I especially loved the epilogue! I love how POP introduced fantasy into reality as you wouldn’t imagine a riot in a supermarket because your favourite drink had run out but yet you can still imagine it. I have to be honest, when I read this for the first time, I didn’t read it with an open time so I couldn’t appreciate but I can now happily say that I love this book and I definitely recommend this to anyone who likes adventure books with comedy!

POP is a amazing book! It got me very intrigued in the many plot twists and lies fed to the consumers that made the whole novel packed with adventure, discovery, and shocking truths about the company, which many of the population relied on to produce their favourite sugar and caffeine-packed drink. I thought the book was fabulous for teens while still appealing to younger children. A very well written book. I can’t say I disliked any aspect of the book as it was such a great read.

POP is an amazing book.
I loved it. The many plot twists and lies fed to the consumers – and the overkill marketing schemes – made the whole novel packed with adventure, discovery, and shocking truths about the company, which many of the population relied on to produce their favourite sugar and caffeine-packed drink. I rate POP a 5/5. I thought the book touched well on these areas while still appealing to younger children (7–10-year-olds) as well as young teens. I can’t say I disliked any aspect of the book as it was such an incredible read. I loved reading Pop – a well written adventure novel for a wide age range.

I really enjoyed Pop because Queenie is very exact and this makes her a very good person to deal with knowing the recipe to the world’s best drink.Even so I just have a few questions:
Did anyone inspire you to create Queenie’s character?
Where is the little island which the 2 owners of the MacTonic recipe crashed?
Is that little island even real?
If you could answer my questions I would be extremely grateful.

Hi Souhayla, Queenie is entirely fictional, but I knew I wanted to create a protagonist who was tough, smart and compassionate, if a little down on her luck. The island you mentioned is almost certainly real, although I can’t give you the coordinates as it is now owned by the Mac-Tonic Corporation…

Wow. That is the only word I can say to describe this. Wow. The bonds of two bickering siblings who like rival drink companies make a great story. I was a little shocked when I found out that Dwight Eagleman was killing people but, I guess business is business. Still I can’t believe that the Kennedy kid was Todd. Todd! A mild, harmless kid was Dwight’s son! I still don’t think that Mac-tonic is healthy. Queenie was so obsessed she didn’t know what normal juice tasted like. And then she craved Mac-tonic when it ran out.

I think this book was really good. I have a few questions for Mitch Johnson:
Will Chuckie and Queenie bond together, just a little bit?
Will Dwight go to jail for murder?
How long did it take you to write this book? And……
Do you have any pets?

Hi Niamah, thanks for the great review! I like to think that, although Chuckie and Queenie could never be the best of friends, their bond would deepen over time. I’m afraid that people like Dwight Eagleman very rarely go to jail for murder, but you never know! I wrote the first draft of Pop! in six weeks (very fast for me), but it took several months of editing to reach the final version. I don’t have any pets, but I’m sure that will change when my daughters are a little older.

As the book said itself

This is a book I would rarely pick up as it is of a genre, I am not familiar with nor took a liking to.
It’s ability to keep me hooked onto the story dumbfounded me, yet it is not without its flaws. Flaws that from some perspectives are not so, but from my standpoint I see it that way.
Mitch Johnson goes into detail about most of the misadventures that Queenie and those that accompany her, that bring them across brilliantly described landscapes and environments. Creating wonderful images in your brain. However, this strength that Mitch so obviously demonstrates throughout the book is not present when you reach the end to the great story. I felt as if the climactic court trail was cut short or had snippets taken out. The detail that hooked me so deeply previously, was gone. As if someone new was writing and they had no idea of how Mitch Johnson wrote.

The side of the book that I found quite revolutionary in what I have been exposed to is the description of a near future where commercialism reigns supreme over the population of the world.
A commentary on how those of today are affected by the biggest companies. MacTonic seems to be the perfect embodiment and representation of the largest companies that dominate the world today.

Mitch Johnson was able to put the message of what the world could look like in this distorted future into a digestible book that kept the reader reading and those that were learning, learning.
This book has not only proven Mitch Johnson’s ability in writing a descriptive writing piece that keeps you reading, but to be a profound writer that wishes for change in how this world of ours has come to be
In short this is a book I am sure to not only read again but to enjoy doing so. It has proved to me that Mitch Johnson is a great writer and that change needs to be taken to save this world. A great message would be an understatement

‘Pop!’ is a captivating book that will take you on a rollercoaster of emotions. The further and further I read, the more and more hooked I became. There was always action going on, from the very start where two planes crashed. And who was on those planes? The only two people in this world who knew the formula for the Mac-Tonic drink – a drink that everybody is addicted to, a drink they cannot live without! And so, the Great Thirst begins!
I like how so many different ideas and themes were explored in this book. For example, climate change. I think lots of the Juniper books this year seem to have an environmental link, ‘Pop!’s’ being through littering, and litter-picking (particularly, at the beginning of the book). This is an especially current theme, particularly after BBC’s Panorama program on littering fizzy drink bottles and the environmental damage they are doing. The book held such an important message, which is especially prominent after COP26.
While the story itself was of high quality, I think the cover was a little disappointing. It does not seem to match the story, and seems to promote the book to younger children, which I feel is incorrect. I think something more distinct should have been on it, and something that pictures the book more accurately.
Overall, ‘Pop!’ by Mitch Johnson was a fantastic read that I was engrossed in the entire way through. I love how there was never a moment without action, and how many twists and turns there were! I would rate Pop! 5 out of 5 stars.

Pop is an adventure themed book with many plot twists and shocks that leave you at the edge of your seat. I enjoyed Mitch Johnsons writing style he revealed just enough for you to predict the plot however he used this to create a very engaging and thought-provoking book that has a meaningful plot. Mitch Johnsons book is extremely unique as it leaves you constantly perplexed and amazed on the different events in the book.
I enjoyed the main character Queenies attitude to environmental impacts as she used her publicity at the moment to draw attention to the washed-up litter from the Mac-Tonic soda. This act was very selfless as at the time the event would have changed her life forever as she held crucial information. I was shocked at how Queenie managed to escape in different circumstances where her life was threatened. Additionally, I was amazed at the staff of Mac-Tonics drive to save the company’s name. This book leaves the reader with a mixture of different emotions as they are left questioning themselves.
This book attempts to teach children about global corporation’s corruptness all for the sake of profit. This book is very influential on how you have a say on the world’s future and those who try to damage it are hidden behind the popularity of the brand. It teaches you to overlook the legacy a company has and to tackle the hidden problem within it.
Overall, I believe this book is unique and intriguing and is recommended to young readers as it is a mix of adventure with a meaningful storyline.

The plot was very interesting and the moral was integrated very well into the story. I also loved the epilogue, as it made the “impossble becoming possible” believable and was a nice ending to the book. This was my favourite book and I’d reccomend it.

Queenie is a girl who just happened to find a washed up bottle with something that would change her life either for better or for worse, in a small town in North Nitch, California a place that wasn’t even on the map, a place that was deemed as more of a ‘garbage patch’ in the Pacific Ocean rather than a small suburban town, which was Quennies home.

At first this was a book I wasn’t too keen on reading as this is not a genre l’d typically read but, Mitch Johnson really did changed my mind after a few chapters with such an great read.
Pop is an exciting book with a nice balance of action and humour as well as characters such as Dwight Eagleman l loved how enthusiastic he was about Mac tonic.

I also loved how there were many cliffhangers which took me by surprise a few times ,it also kept me interested in the book and engaged.

This book also covered parts of the news, other authors wouldn’t dare cover like pollution, as recently our activities as humans have left huge impact on the world around us. The book makes us aware of our actions and what we can do to start reversing our impacts to have a good planet free of rubbish.

When l first read Pop l was a bit shocked at how people were getting so desperate for a Fizzy drink and that the people were even committing homicide and how millions of dollars were being spent to just get a hold of a single can. This also made me question what ingredients they put into drinks like Mac tonic, and what would happen if a big beverage company would act to keep selling their drink and the people who bought said drinks .

This book Pop! By Mitch Johnson is an intriguing adventure book which left me as the reader, wanting more. The book covers environmental issues which adds an educational touch to it.  Its flashy book cover also elaborates on how exciting the book generally is.
Pop is based on a normal girl called Queenie who happens to come across the most important formula in the world. I believe that her determination to expose the truth was inspiring and brought reality into this book. I also liked how it gave a mixture of adventure which left me on edge of my seat as I was reading each chapter.
Overall, this book is thrilling and is recommended to everyone. This is because it has friendship, adventure and environmental issues all at once.

POP by Mitch Johnson
This is a funny, adventurous, power of courage, standing up for what’s right and the need to sometimes have honest Justice type book. It’s also about fizzy drinks: when they lose the priceless recipe to the most popular drink in the entire WORLD! They thought it was lost forever. It’s about a very important message, wrapped up in a fun and outrageous adventure and not forgetting that one day, that Queenie’s life changed instantly.
I would rate this book a 7 out of 10

POP by Mitch Johnson
Pop by Mitch Johnson is an amazing journey about 2 major fizzy drinks companies; Mac-tonic TM and Delixer TM. It is about a girl who finds the Mac-tonic TM formula and the executives of the company try to track her down for the special formula. This adventure book starts when Queenie goes to the beach and starts to clean up the beach when a Mac-tonic bottle washes up at her feet. Queenie takes the bottle home and soon realise that it’s the formula that everyone has been looking for these last couple of days. She tells her family of the Great Discovery and soon after the Mac-tonic executives come knocking on her door, with a proposal of $3 Million for the formula. Soon after Queenie is abducted and taken to Area 51! She soon meets Todd – who she later finds out to be Kennedy’s Kid – and together they escape Area 51. They meet the architect of Area 51 and soon discover that Mac-tonic TM    and Delixer TM don’t hate each other as much as they show as the two companies both own Area 51.
Queenie and Todd then have a plan to shine the precious on the moon. While at the observatory, Dwight Eagleman reveals the plan he made to get publicity by leading Queenie to this destination. Eagleman then revealed that Delixer TM had the Mac-Tonic formula because; Mac-tonic TM  and Delixer TM  are the same thing!
Queenie is soon taken to court and after a short nerve-racking period of time, she is released with no consequences.
I rate this book 7 out of 10 and would recommend this book to anyone over 10 years old.

Pop by Mitch johnson

Pop is a book about a girl named Queenie, who stumbled upon the secret formula to a huge company, that makes the world most popular fizzy drink.
Overall, the plot puts you on the edge of your seat as you watch the trials and tribulations of her escapes from the cooperate empire, trying to seize it back. There is a large amount of exciting adventure and happy moments, to boost my opinion of it greatly.
With all things included I personally rate it.

POP! Mitch Johnson.
This book is well written by Mitch Johnson. I enjoyed this book as it is full of adventures and in some parts funny. I also like how Johnson writes about how Queenie fights with her brother which we can relate to.

If the author’s intention was to illicit a reaction from the reader, he certainly succeeded with me! Outrageous characters with blasé views on climate change as well as thinly vailed digs at fast food/drink manufactures and conspiracy theorists, made me laugh when I was not gnashing my teeth. Witty, sharp, great plot and thoroughly enjoyable. I definitely recommend this book.

A fast-paced and intense adventure that tackles the serious issues of marine plastic pollution and the influence of multi-national companies on the world’s population, in an engaging and entertaining way. Whilst some elements of the plot were a bit far-fetched, I was happy to suspend my disbelief for this well-written adventure story. It is certainly not inconceivable that a shortage of a favourite – and somewhat addictive – fizzy drink could lead to an event resembling the ‘drought’ and the lengths that those affected would go to get their hands on such limited supplies (pasta and loo rolls spring to mind!) A great adventure story with characters that surprise the reader by their actions and reactions. Highly recommended.

Pop was an amazing book to read with many mystery plot twists. I really enjoyed the part where Queenie was on the run, while holding the secrets of Mac- Tonic in her hands. If I had to describe pop I would say this is an action and cli-fi genre as it shows a lot of care for the environment while having lots of action scenes. My favourite character was Chuckie as it was funny how lazy and nosy Chuckie was,I think Mitch Johnsons idea of Pop was really well thought out as his book has multiple qualities that make it fun and exciting to read. I would definitely recommend this book to read and I rate it myself 4.5. Thank you Mitch Johnson.

Pop….well its a fabulous book! A positive about Pop is that it keeps you on the edge of your seat and leaves chapters on cliff hangers so you carry on reading. A negative about Pop is that when the chapters are in the MacTonic companies perspective they are quite long and sometimes get a bit boring. In conclusion, Pop is a really good book and really fun to read. It was a very creative idea of Mitch Johnsons and something I would never think of being written in a book. To be honest if I saw this book it wouldn’t be something I would choose to read but I am so happy I did as I really enjoyed it! So overall I would give Pop an 8 star rating.

I think this book is a great read, I would recommend this to young teens as it’s about fizzy drinks and how the world is being trashed by Mac-Tonic bottles which relates to modern day climate change. I would say my favourite character would have to be Queenie as she goes on a magnificent quest to escape the most powerful people on Earth. I would give it 4.5 stars because the plot thickens every-time you turn the page making you want to read more and more. I would recommend to people who like action/sci-fi/cli-fi as the book mainly focuses around these factors. My least favourite character is Dwight Eagleman as he is very rude. Would definitely read again!

Pop! An amazing story that made me want to read more after every single word and page. I love how Mitch Johnson creates suspense with comedy and seriousness and how there are some very weird scenarios like how the main characters brother sits there all day watching TV all day and does not even go to school! Queenie the main character is a normal American girl who loves the drink Mactonictm, but when the secret formula goes missing, some strange things start to happen tp her.

I really liked POP! so I would give this wonderful book 5 stars and in my opinion should be suitable for readers over 12 years old.
